Whole Wheat Bread

2 Packages Dry Yeast
1/2 Cup Warm Water
1-1/2 Cup Lukewarm Water
3 Tablespoons Sugar
2 Teasspoons Salt
3 Cups Bleached Flour
1/2 Cup Hot Water
3 Tablespoons Shortening
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
3 Cups Whole Wheat Flour


Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup of warm water. Pour into mising bowl with 1-1/2 cups lukewarm water. Add sugar, salt, and bleached flour. Beat until smooth and allow to raise until bubbly. (~30 minutes)

While above is raising, mix 1/2 cup hot water, shortening, and brown sugar. Heat until shortening is melted. Allow to cool. Mix into the above mixture.

Add whole wheat flour and mix until firm. Knead well and allow to raise in greased bowl. Allow to raise for one hour.

Divide into two loaves and bake at 375° for 50 minutes.
